Frequently asked questions

We've gathered the most common questions our clients have asked, hoping the answers will be helpful to you too.

When should you consider hiring an online marketing agency?

If you need marketing support in multiple areas or simply don’t have enough time to handle this aspect of your business, you should consider seeking help from an online marketing agency. An agency will most likely be more expensive than hiring a freelancer to handle your marketing tasks, but you’ll have an entire team of experts at your disposal. Instead of having to maintain contact with multiple freelancers to coordinate their work and mediate between them, an account manager at a marketing agency will handle this coordination for you, since the agency’s team includes specialists in various fields. One of the main advantages of this collaboration is that, when dealing with complex tasks, you can better leverage the synergies between different areas—especially if you choose a digital marketing agency with a broader service portfolio that you can rely on as a strategic partner. Compared to freelancers, the higher fees stem not only from the agency’s operating costs but also from the fact that experts must continuously train themselves and keep their knowledge up to date; furthermore, the cost of professional marketing software can be significant. At the same time, an agency has greater capacity, so it’s likely they can take on projects with shorter deadlines.

What is the difference between online and digital marketing agencies?

Although the terms “online marketing” and “digital marketing” are used interchangeably in everyday language, their meanings are not entirely the same, and therefore there may be differences in the services offered by marketing agencies operating in this field. Digital marketing agencies aim to promote products, services, or brands through digital channels. The marketing channels utilized by these agencies include not only the Internet but also electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and digital billboards, as well as radio and television channels.  They work according to a comprehensive marketing strategy designed to reach the desired target audience, combining the use of various online and offline communication platforms and tools.
Online marketing agencies, on the other hand, focus exclusively on online channels in order to connect with their target audience. This includes the use of websites, social media platforms, search engines, online advertising platforms, email marketing solutions, and other marketing automation methods (e.g., chatbots, CRM, etc.). Unlike digital marketing agencies, online marketing agencies focus exclusively on web-based platforms and do not deal with media buying or planning. If you’re looking for a marketing partner to promote your website, an online marketing agency will most likely be able to meet your needs. However, if you’re planning a nationwide SMS, radio, or TV campaign, or perhaps want to reach your customers through digital billboards, then a digital marketing agency with a broader portfolio of services will be the right strategic partner for you.

How to choose between marketing agencies?

You should base the amount of time you spend choosing a marketing agency on the types of tasks and the timeframe for which you’re looking for a partner for your company. If you’re looking for an agency for one-time tasks, such as logo and brand identity design or website development, you’ll likely find it easier to make a decision than if you’re seeking the right strategic marketing partner for a long-term collaboration covering multiple areas.
Based on our experience, the following criteria—which we’ve dubbed the “8 criteria of Selection” for ease of recall—will be most helpful to you in choosing the right marketing agency:
1. Desired Goals: Think through in advance where you want to go with the help of a marketing agency. An excellent tool for this is setting SMART goals—goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. It’s important that the agency is also clear on your expectations and is able to share its opinions, insights, and professional recommendations with you. In the long run, you’ll be able to work well together if they can identify with your goals. If you enter into a partnership with unrealistic expectations or unattainable goals, it can quickly lead to frustration on both sides.
2. Services Offered: If possible, choose a marketing agency that covers all the service areas you may need now or in the near future, because this will not only save you time but also allow you to better leverage the synergies between different marketing tools when their management is centralized under one roof. From this perspective, full-service agencies have the advantage; however, if you’re looking for a specialist in a specific area, they may be the better choice.
3. Previous references: It’s worth browsing through the references on marketing agencies’ websites, as these will allow you to assess the quality of their work and determine whether they have experience in the industry or service area that may be relevant to you. If they publish case studies or more detailed project references, these can give you an accurate picture of the effectiveness and success of the campaigns they’ve implemented.
4. Testimonials: Agencies often publish testimonials from past clients on their websites, which can also give you an idea of what it’s like to work with them. Of course, you can also ask them for specific references whom you can contact to ask about their experience working with the agency and their level of satisfaction. And if an acquaintance has recommended a marketing agency whose professional opinion you value, their recommendation will likely carry more weight.
5. Fair Pricing: Transparency and predictability are just as important as the price level itself. Always ask what is included in the price and what additional costs, if any, you can expect on top of that. Does the price include the services that are important to you (e.g., weekly consultations)? A quote reveals a lot about a marketing agency’s business philosophy and its approach to clients: if it provides transparent and reassuring answers to the questions you’ve raised, it will definitely build trust.
6. Compatibility: By this, we mean whether there is a good fit between you. Based on our experience, a successful long-term partnership can only be established if the marketing agency and the client operate according to similar corporate cultures and processes, or if the agency is able to adapt to the client’s specific needs. For example, a freelance online marketing expert is unlikely to be able to meet the complex needs and processes of a large corporation, while for a sole proprietor, the largest marketing agencies may not necessarily provide the most cost-effective solution or a client-centric approach, since they won’t be a priority client for those agencies.
7. Communication: Maintaining contact with the agency—and the specific contact person you’ll be working with on a day-to-day basis—is also crucial when selecting a marketing agency. If possible, get to know the team members you’ll be collaborating with to ensure your company’s success even before signing the agreement. This way, you can form a personal impression not only of the agency but also of the people who work there.
8. Consultation:  If possible, request an online, phone, or in-person consultation so you can assess the agency’s professional expertise, competencies, and approach to clients. At Selector, the first consultation is free, which you can request through our website. Last but not least, if you’re still unable to choose a marketing agency based on the above, you’ll be able to make your decision based on personal rapport and preference. In our experience, subjective factors and human elements are also very important; however, it’s advisable to establish a set of objective criteria and assign weights to each criterion in order to make a well-informed decision.

What makes Selector different from other marketing agencies?

At Selector, we didn’t just start yesterday—we’ve been in the market for over 10 years as a Google Partner agency. For us, the client always comes first: we pay special attention to ensuring that our clients’ interests and goals are met to the fullest extent possible throughout our collaboration, whether it’s building a website or managing ongoing campaigns. As a medium-sized marketing agency, we already have dedicated teams of experts in campaign management, search engine optimization, website development, and social media communications. We believe in creating shared value and thinking collaboratively, as well as in win-win partnerships, because we believe these are the only sustainable approaches in the long run. We do not accept every request; we only take on an assignment if we can identify with our client’s business vision and goals, and if they are open to hearing our recommendations regarding future marketing strategies and activities.

How can the online marketing agency Selector help you?

As a full-service marketing agency, we have received a wide variety of inquiries in recent years from domestic and international companies across various industries, ranging from small to large enterprises.  Client needs are diverse and generally require the combined use of various methods, marketing tools, and best practices. In our day-to-day work, we most frequently encounter the following client requests and needs, and we carry out tasks related to them:
- online recruitment for online and in-person training courses, online events, and offline events
- recruitment campaigns using paid ads and social media platforms
- generating leads, inquiries, expressions of interest, and requests for quotes through PPC campaigns
- creating and optimizing landing pages for online campaigns to maximize conversions
- increasing e-commerce store traffic, improving ad ROI, optimizing web presence, and redesigning existing websites or building new ones with a focus on UX design
- search engine optimization (SEO), increasing organic traffic from search engines, and improving Google rankings
- enhancing the performance of paid campaigns and improving return on ad spend (ROAS)
- auditing and evaluating online marketing tasks performed by other marketing agencies or experts
- comprehensive competitor analysis regarding online presence and communication
- developing social media strategies, creating social media content, and managing social media pages
- email marketing solutions, database building and expansion, and newsletter creation
- planning and implementing marketing automation processes

Of course, the list above is by no means exhaustive; it includes only the most common types of projects. If you don’t see the specific business problem or communication challenge that has led you to seek out an online marketing agency, please feel free to contact us anyway—we’re always open to new opportunities and brainstorming together, and we’d love to hear about your plans and ideas.

What information do we need for a quote?

This, of course, depends on the service area, since we need different information to build a website than we do to launch a marketing campaign, develop a social media strategy, or set up an email marketing solution. If you already have specific ideas, feel free to send them to us via email, or let’s discuss them over the phone or during an online consultation. If you’d like, we’d be happy to send you sample briefs for various areas to help you think through the different aspects. Visit the Selector blog and read our articles on the topic of briefs, where you’ll find additional helpful tips!

What does the agency collaboration process look like?

After initial contact, we typically discuss your business ideas in detail during a phone or online consultation. Based on this, we prepare our professional recommendations and a price quote, which we can present upon request, or we answer any questions that may arise. If we reach a mutual understanding, we’ll sign an agreement and a contract setting out our commitments. At the beginning of our collaboration, you can definitely expect a more intensive and close working relationship, as we’ll be laying the groundwork together. Although the specific tasks may vary depending on the marketing solutions, our general approach is well characterized by the following process:
1. Planning: with your expectations and goals in mind, we carefully consider the tasks to be carried out, brainstorm ideas, and prepare our proposals.
2. Review:
we give you the opportunity to review our proposed plans, which we then finalize based on your feedback.
3. Implementation:
we’ll build what we’ve agreed upon, whether it’s a new landing page or a PPC campaign to be launched.
4. Optimization: we’ll test, measure, and make adjustments along the way based on our findings to get the most out of the project.
5. Evaluation:
at the end of the project, we draw lessons and conclusions, and jointly assess the extent to which we succeeded in meeting the original goals.
6. Redesign: based on the results, we modify the original plan or create a new one.

What marketing agency costs can I expect?

In our quotes, we typically list the costs of one-time tasks and regularly recurring monthly tasks separately by service area, and we itemize the advertising costs—which are independent of us and passed through us—separately. In most cases, you can expect pre-determined fixed fees; however, if the resource requirements for a particular task cannot be estimated in advance, we can agree to an hourly rate structure. Our monthly agency fee depends on the scope of services utilized, the size of the managed advertising budget, and the intensity of our collaboration—that is, the amount of time required. Our fees vary for one-time and ongoing engagements, although we do not work with the majority of our clients on a project basis. In summary, you should definitely expect a monthly fee of a few hundred thousand forints if you’d like to work with us—or any other online marketing agency.

What monthly marketing packages can I choose from?

At Selector digital marketing agency, we do not offer pre-packaged service plans; we always develop our online marketing proposals based on a detailed brief or following a joint consultation, taking the client’s needs fully into account. At the same time, to make decision-making easier, we always propose several different options so that everyone can choose the combination of services that best suits their needs and budget.

When can I get a dedicated account manager?

If you use online marketing services from our agency in multiple areas—and the tasks related to these services need to be coordinated within the Selector team—we will assign you a dedicated contact person, known as an account manager. Our account managers are typically generalists, meaning they have extensive experience across multiple areas of marketing, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication skills. You can message your account manager at any time; they’ll do their best to respond to your questions as quickly as possible, and they’re also available by phone on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. We’d be happy if a close, even friendly relationship develops between you, but we ask that you use official company channels to communicate with us so that the conversation can be tracked at agency level. This is especially important in the event of a substitution, so that if you’re on vacation or sick, another team member can easily pick up where you left off.

What is the difference between an account manager and a PPC manager?

Our account managers typically coordinate tasks related to multiple services within the Selector digital marketing agency, while our PPC managers focus specifically on managing pay-per-click online marketing campaigns. If you only use our PPC advertising services (e.g., Google or Facebook campaigns), your PPC manager will also serve as your point of contact, as our experience has shown that this approach fosters more effective collaboration. In this case, you can coordinate your online marketing campaigns directly with our PPC specialist. In contrast, working with an account manager can be particularly useful when multiple tasks need to be coordinated (e.g., website development, search engine optimization, campaign management, social media content creation, newsletter compilation, etc.).

What does the free marketing consultation include?

You can sign up through our website for a free online consultation lasting up to 1 hour, with no obligation on your part. If you let us know in advance what questions you’d like answered, we can prepare accordingly, and our discussion will be even more productive. The conversation typically begins with a brief introduction, followed by a discussion of the specific questions you’ve brought to us. We often provide ideas for developing a marketing strategy for a business concept, as well as for building a specific website or creating a current campaign plan or PPC strategy. Please note that the purpose of these consultations is not to provide technical support; we cannot assist you if, for example, you get stuck setting up a Meta Ads campaign. Following the consultation, if you’d like, we’ll prepare a detailed proposal for you, outlining how we, as an online marketing agency, can help bring your ideas to life.

Can you send a price list for marketing services?

Yes, of course we could, but we don’t usually do that. The reason for this is, on the one hand, that we don’t want this information to reach our competitors, and on the other hand, these quotes are primarily intended for internal use and include our pricing logic. We prepare our quotes after each inquiry, following a detailed assessment of the client’s needs, expectations, goals, and the competitive landscape. We generally prepare proposals covering multiple services and offering several options so that each client can choose the solution that best aligns with their vision and financial capabilities. In the Hungarian market, we are not the cheapest marketing agency, but we are not the most expensive either. We generally offer competitive prices, so we definitely encourage you to request a quote from us (as well) for the marketing tasks you need to complete.

How long is the commitment period?

We do not require our clients to sign contracts with our marketing agency that last for several months or years. After the first month, our agreements can be terminated with a standard 30-day notice period. Our goal is for companies to remain our clients not because they are bound by a contract, but because they are genuinely satisfied with the high-quality execution of the tasks they entrust to us.

How can we sign a contract?

We operate as a paperless office, striving to minimize our environmental footprint. To this end, we sign contracts digitally with all our employees, subcontractors, and clients. Whenever possible, we also sign all other documents that previously required traditional signatures online, most frequently using the e-szerződés.hu platform.
