YouTube is a massive platform with a wealth of potential customers, making it an excellent opportunity for running advertisements. However, simply uploading a video isn't enough to execute a successful campaign. It's crucial to plan your ad and present it to the right target audience. In our article, we'll delve deeper into the YouTube ad creation intricacies.

Why is YouTube ad creation beneficial?

YouTube ad creation offers numerous advantages, such as the following:

Massive Reach: YouTube is the world's largest video-sharing platform, allowing our ads to reach a vast number of people not only in Hungary but also globally.

Targeted Ads: Similar to Google Ads, YouTube ads offer advanced targeting options, enabling us to reach the most suitable audience for our company.

Cost-Effective: The cost of YouTube ads can vary depending on the ad format, targeting, and level of competition, but generally, they are more cost-effective than other ad formats.

Easily Measurable: we can easily measure the effectiveness of our ads.

Versatile: YouTube offers various ad formats, including video and image banner ads, allowing us to choose the most suitable format for our goals and budget.

Additionally, YouTube ad creation has further benefits, as it can help with brand building, customer acquisition, increasing website traffic, improving conversion rates, and strengthening brand loyalty among consumers.

YouTube Ad Types

1) In-stream ads: these ads appear before, during, or after video playback. They can be skippable or non-skippable. They are also referred to as in-video ads.

  • Skippable in-stream ads: They can be skipped after 5 seconds. The campaign can be set up so that we only pay if viewers watch our entire video ad or interact with the video.
  • Non-skippable in-stream ads: they are non-skippable and can be up to 15 seconds long.

2) Bumper ads: short, maximum 6-second YouTube video ads that are non-skippable. They can be played before, during, and after videos.

3) In-feed video ads: they appear in YouTube search results, next to related videos, and on the YouTube mobile app homepage. We pay for these ads when a user clicks on them.

4) Display ads: they appear on YouTube in the form of banners.

5) Masthead ads: these prominent ads appear on the YouTube homepage and represent the largest ad format available on the platform.

6) TrueView for Action ads: they include a CTA button that encourages viewers to get more information about the product or service shown in the ad, make a purchase, or download an app.

7) Non-embedded out-stream ads: the video starts playing muted in the background while the user browses, and they can unmute it by clicking. This ad format is only available on mobile and is not available on YouTube, only on other Google partner websites and apps.

Steps to create a YouTube ad

1) Define your goal: what do we want to achieve with the ad? Do we want to acquire more customers? Do we want to increase brand awareness? Or perhaps we want to increase traffic to our website? Defining our goal helps in choosing the right ad format.

2) Create a video campaign: You can create your campaign on the Google Ads platform by simply selecting the "Video" campaign type when choosing your campaign. Here, you can set your objective, ad format, targeting, budget, and the video ad.

3) Choose an ad format: YouTube offers numerous ad formats, each suitable for different objectives. We discussed these in the previous point.

4) Target the right audience: YouTube offers advanced targeting options that help you reach the most suitable people with your ad. You can target based on demographic data (age, gender, location), interests, online behavior, and much more, just like when creating Google ads.

5) Create an impactful video: The video is the most crucial element of your YouTube campaign. It's important for it to be attention-grabbing, informative, and entertaining. The video's length can vary depending on the ad format. Additionally, Google provides assistance in creating video ads by offering numerous customizable templates for advertisers.

6) Determine your budget: The cost of YouTube ads varies depending on the ad format, targeting, and competition. You can decide on a daily or monthly budget.

7) Publish your YouTube ad: Once you've thoroughly checked everything and found it to be in order, publish your YouTube campaign.

8) Track your results: It's important to track your ad's results to see how effective it is and to continuously optimize it.

If you don't yet have sufficient experience in ad management, it's advisable to entrust the task to a professional online marketing agency!
